Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy describes how the DriveSplit iPhone application handles information when you plan, track, save or split a journey and when you use DriveSplit Pro.

2. Information stored locally by DriveSplit

DriveSplit stores the following information on your device so its features work:

• vehicles, including make, model, year, variant and consumption;
• journey inputs, calculated costs, participant names and saved split results;
• app preferences and Pro entitlement state provided through StoreKit;
• for an active tracked journey, accepted location coordinates, timestamps and calculated distance.

DriveSplit does not operate an account or backend that receives this local database. Participant names are labels you enter; avoid entering information you do not need.

3. Location

DriveSplit asks for location only when you start a location-dependent action:

• Tracked trips: precise location is used to draw the route and calculate distance. If you grant Always access, tracking may continue in the background while the trip is active. DriveSplit stops location updates when you finish or pause the trip.
• Nearby fuel prices: a one-time approximate location is used to rank official Spanish fuel stations near you.

You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings. Quick estimates and manual fuel-price entry remain available without location access.

4. Apple services

MapKit and location services

When you search for places, calculate routes or view maps, the app uses Apple MapKit and related location services. Requests and device information needed to provide those services are handled by Apple under Apple’s applicable privacy terms. DriveSplit does not control Apple’s independent handling of that data.

App Store and StoreKit

DriveSplit Pro purchases, billing, renewal, cancellation, transaction verification and restoration are handled by Apple. The developer does not receive your full payment-card information. Apple may provide the app with product, transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro.

5. Spanish government fuel-price service

When you request nearby official prices, DriveSplit downloads the public station-price dataset from Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge service. The government endpoint necessarily receives a network request and ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Your coordinates are used on-device to filter and sort the downloaded station list and are not deliberately included in the fuel-data request URL. Responses may be cached locally for up to 12 hours.

6. Vehicle catalogue

A compact vehicle catalogue derived from European Environment Agency data is bundled with the app. Catalogue searching happens locally; the raw development dataset is not shipped in the app.

7. What the developer does not do

The current production code contains no third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, advertising identifier access, cross-app tracking, custom sign-in or developer-operated cloud database. DriveSplit does not sell personal information.

8. Retention and deletion

Saved vehicles and journeys remain on your device until you delete them in the app or remove the app and its local data. An active tracked journey remains locally recoverable until it is saved or cleared. Cached fuel-price responses expire for normal use and can be removed by deleting the app. Apple may retain purchase records according to its own policies.

9. Security

DriveSplit relies on iOS application sandboxing and Apple’s platform security for local data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so this policy does not promise absolute security.

10. Children

DriveSplit is a general-audience journey utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly operate a service that collects children’s data.

11. Changes

If the application’s practices materially change, this policy should be updated before the changed version is released. The effective date above indicates the current draft.
