DriveSplit has no developer account system, advertising, advertising tracking or developer-operated analytics. Most app data stays on your iPhone. Saving a result automatically creates a temporary seven-day share record; nearby fuel prices and the Android waitlist also use DriveSplit services for the limited purposes described here.
1. Scope
This policy describes how the DriveSplit iPhone application, public website calculator, temporary shared-trip pages and Android waitlist handle information.
2. Information stored locally
The app stores vehicles, journey inputs, calculated costs, participant labels, saved results, preferences and StoreKit entitlement state on your device. During an active tracked journey, accepted location coordinates, timestamps and calculated distance are also kept locally as recoverable draft state.
DriveSplit does not operate a user account or receive the app's full local database. Participant names are labels you enter; avoid information you do not need. The exceptions to device-local storage are described below.
3. Seven-day shared-trip records
When you save a journey result, DriveSplit automatically sends a share copy to its Cloudflare service and creates a link that expires after seven days. The shared payload may include route labels and coordinates, distance and optional duration, vehicle details, calculation inputs and cost breakdown, and participant labels, avatar choices, amounts and payment status.
Anyone who has the link can view its contents until it expires. Shared pages ask search engines not to index or follow them and are excluded from the sitemap, but those instructions do not make a link private. The current app does not provide an in-app control to revoke a link early, so share it only with the people who should see the trip information.
4. Android early-access waitlist
If you join the Android waitlist, DriveSplit stores the email address you submit, a normalized copy used to prevent duplicates, your English or Spanish page choice, the signup time, the Android waitlist source and your active or unsubscribed status in a private Cloudflare D1 database. The address is used only for Android availability, early-access or beta invitations and important Android launch updates. It is not added to unrelated marketing.
Waitlist requests are rate-limited using a one-way salted hash of connection information. The raw address is not sent to analytics or included in application logs. You can ask to be removed; the record is then marked unsubscribed and excluded from every active export.
5. Location
- Tracked trips: precise location draws the route and calculates distance. With the appropriate iOS permission, tracking may continue in the background while a trip is active.
- Nearby fuel prices: when you request nearby prices, the app sends latitude, longitude, search radius and fuel type to a DriveSplit Cloudflare endpoint so it can return compatible official Spanish station prices near that point.
You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings. Planned estimates and manual price entry remain available without it.
6. External services
Apple MapKit, location and StoreKit
Place search, route calculation, map display, location services and purchases use Apple services. Apple handles the requests and transaction information needed to provide them under its own terms. The developer does not receive full payment-card details.
DriveSplit fuel-price endpoint and Spanish government data
For a nearby fuel-price request, DriveSplit's Cloudflare endpoint receives the latitude, longitude, radius and fuel type submitted by the app, together with ordinary connection information such as an IP address. The service uses official Spanish fuel-price data to return nearby compatible results and may cache source responses for operational efficiency. Official prices can be delayed, incomplete or different from the pump.
Public website calculator
The calculator runs in the browser. DriveSplit does not save or send the distance, consumption, price, expenses or participant count you enter.
7. Vehicle catalogue
A compact catalogue derived from European Environment Agency data ships with the app. Catalogue searching happens locally; raw development extracts are not shipped.
8. What the developer does not do
The production code contains no third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, advertising identifier access, cross-app tracking or custom sign-in. DriveSplit does not sell personal information. Temporary shares, nearby fuel requests and the Android waitlist are used only for their stated purposes.
9. Retention and deletion
Local vehicles and journeys remain until you delete them in the app or remove the app and its data. Active tracked drafts remain until saved or cleared. Shared records expire automatically after seven days; removing local app data does not delete a share record before that expiry. Android waitlist records remain while active; removal requests mark them unsubscribed so they cannot be exported for contact. Cached fuel-price source responses expire during normal operation. Apple may retain purchase records under its own policies.
10. Security
Local data relies on iOS sandboxing and platform security. Shared links use hard-to-guess identifiers, but possession of a valid link grants access until it expires. Android waitlist exports and removals require a server-side administrative secret. No system is completely secure, so this policy does not promise absolute security.
11. Children
DriveSplit is a general-audience journey utility and is not directed to children.
12. Changes
This policy will be updated before a materially different data practice is released. The effective date shows the current version.
