Built for the whole journey

Other tools stop before the trip is actually settled.

A generic fuel calculator gives you a fuel number. A general expense app divides an amount you already know. DriveSplit plans the car journey, calculates every trip cost and gives each passenger a clear share.

At a glance

What other tools leave out.

DriveSplit is made to take one shared car journey from route to final payment—not just calculate fuel or log a receipt.

Choose by task

Do not force a car journey into an expense ledger.

Use a browser calculator

You only need one quick fuel estimate and are happy to enter the distance and handle everything else yourself.

Open the free calculator →

Use DriveSplit

You need the journey calculated properly: route, vehicle, fuel or EV energy, extras, passenger shares, history and a result you can send.

Use a general expense app

You already have the final amounts and only need to divide accommodation, food or other non-driving expenses. It does not calculate the journey for you.

Car-specific inputs stay visible

DriveSplit combines distance, vehicle consumption, fuel or electricity price, tolls, parking and extras before allocating the total.

The calculation shows energy used and energy cost rather than treating the fuel bill as an unexplained expense. The methodology documents the formulas, rounding and limitations.

Fair can change along the route

During a Pro tracked journey, pickup and drop-off events preserve where each paying passenger was active. That allows costs to follow passenger distance instead of assuming everyone travelled from start to finish. See the worked distance-based example.

Privacy remains explicit

DriveSplit has no developer-operated account, ads or developer analytics. Most working data stays on the iPhone. Route services, nearby fuel requests, StoreKit and temporary shared links use the limited network behavior described in the privacy policy.

Comparison FAQ

What is the difference between DriveSplit and a fuel calculator?

A fuel calculator answers one calculation from entered values. DriveSplit adds route planning, saved vehicles, local history, sharing and Pro GPS tracking with passenger pickup and drop-off ranges—so the whole trip is covered, not just its fuel estimate.

What is the difference between DriveSplit and a general expense app?

A general expense app divides an amount after you enter it. It does not plan the route, calculate vehicle energy, track passenger distance or produce the car-trip total. DriveSplit does all of that before anyone is asked to pay.

When should I use the free DriveSplit calculator instead of the app?

Use the web calculator for a quick one-off estimate with a simple payer group. Use the app when you need routes, saved vehicle data, extras, trip history, sharing or tracked passenger ranges.
