What does DriveSplit calculate?
It combines journey distance, vehicle consumption, fuel or electricity price and extra expenses. The result includes energy used, energy cost, journey total and each paying participant's share.
How is fuel cost calculated?
Fuel used = distance × L/100 km ÷ 100. Fuel cost = fuel used × price per litre. Add tolls, parking and other shared costs after the fuel calculation.
How is an electric journey calculated?
Electricity used = distance × kWh/100 km ÷ 100. Charging cost = electricity used × price per kWh. Use the tariff and consumption that best match the journey.
Are the results exact?
They are estimates until replaced with actual values. Weather, traffic, route, vehicle load and driving style can change consumption. Check receipts and final expenses before settling up.
Can I calculate miles instead of kilometres?
Yes on the web calculator. It converts miles to kilometres before applying L/100 km or kWh/100 km consumption.

Who pays what
How do I split petrol cost between four people?
Calculate the journey total, then divide by four if all four people are paying. For example, €40 divided by four is €10 each.
Should the driver pay?
Include the driver when everyone is sharing the trip equally. Exclude them when passengers have agreed to cover costs in exchange for the driving. State the choice before calculating.
What if people travel different distances?
Calculate separate journey legs and include only the people present for each leg. Add each person's leg shares at the end.
How does DriveSplit handle rounding?
It rounds currency to two decimal places and assigns any small remainder to one share so individual amounts add up to the exact total.

Planned trips, tracked trips and Pro
What is a planned trip?
A planned trip uses an Apple Maps route, selected vehicle, manual or nearby energy price, extras and participants to estimate the cost before travel.
What is a tracked trip?
A tracked trip uses accepted GPS samples collected during an active drive to measure the distance actually travelled, then applies the same cost and split calculation. Tracking is a Pro feature.
What is free in DriveSplit?
Route planning, manual energy prices, trip-cost calculations, equal or passengers-pay splitting, local results and one saved vehicle are available without Pro. The public web calculator is also free.
What does DriveSplit Pro add?
GPS-tracked trips, nearby official fuel prices in Spain, advanced accuracy controls and unlimited vehicles. App Store pricing and any trial eligibility are shown by Apple in the app.
Does DriveSplit support electric vehicles?
Yes. Battery vehicles use kWh/100 km and price per kWh. Plug-in hybrids can split distance between fuel and electric modes when both consumption values and prices are available.

What leaves the device
Does DriveSplit need an account?
No. There is no developer-operated account or cloud database for the app's local vehicles and saved trips.
How do shared-trip links work?
The app sends the selected public trip details to a temporary Cloudflare KV record. The recipient page shows the result and payment state. The link expires after seven days and can be revoked earlier.
Can shared links appear in search results?
They should not. Shared pages send noindex, nofollow in their HTML and X-Robots-Tag HTTP header, and they are excluded from the sitemap. They are recipient links, not SEO pages.
Does the public calculator save my data?
No. Its calculation runs in the browser and the site does not store or transmit the entered values.
Where do nearby Spanish fuel prices come from?
From the public Spanish government fuel-price service. DriveSplit downloads the dataset and uses the device location locally to sort compatible nearby stations. Pump prices and update timing can vary.
