A percentage tells you how much of the battery is available, not the journey cost. To convert a percentage change to energy, multiply usable battery capacity by the percentage used. For example, 40% of a 60 kWh usable battery is 24 kWh.
Energy billed at the charger can be higher than energy stored in the battery. If your consumption figure comes from the dashboard, consider the charger efficiency and preconditioning. If it comes from a wall charger measurement over similar trips, those losses may already be represented.
A PHEV needs separate fuel and electricity calculations when both modes are used. DriveSplit models them separately only when both consumption figures and both energy prices are available; it does not invent missing electric use. For a manual estimate, calculate each distance portion independently and add the results.
